Fiber-Reinforced Composites – Advantages and Applications
Presenter: Dr. Matt Nejad Release Date: 4/29/21

AGD Subject Code: 780 Reviewed: 2024

Fiber-reinforced composites (FRCs) have enhanced mechanical properties and provide many advantages compared to conventional composite resins. The use of FRCs provide exciting possibilities in restoring teeth in a variety of restorative techniques including direct, indirect, endodontically treated, and severely damaged and compromised teeth. The advantages of FRCs makes them especially useful in restoring teeth and practicing the biomimetic approach.

Upon completion of this CE webinar, we will cover
• What is a Fiber-reinforced composite (FRC)
• Material properties and mechanical advantages
• How does fiber-reinforcement minimize polymerization shrinkage and stress and residual stress on restored teeth
• Why incremental layering is not the most effective stress reduction method
• The strength and structural integrity of teeth restored with FRCs
• Fiber-reinforced composite direct restoration technique   ( disclaimer , AGD PACE Statement )
